The Thai Court of Justice plans to press charges against anonymous hackers who took down hundreds of websites of the Thai courts in protest against the conviction of two Burmese migrant workers for the murder of two British backpackers on Ko Tao Island.
On Wednesday, 13 January 2016, Suebpong Sripongkul, spokesperson of Thailand’s Court of Justice (CoJ), announced that the Thai authorities will carry out an investigation and press charges against a group of anonymous hackers who on Tuesday night downed at least 297 sites, including Appeal and Criminal Court websites.

Prior to British tourists Hannah Witheridge and David Miller’s heinous murders last September, migrant worker’s presence and everyday lives on Koh Tao island were not publicly discussed. This situation abruptly changed once migrants were identified by case investigators as key suspects behind the killings.

( Hong Kong, October 23, 2014) 20th October 2014, The Human Rights Commission of the Lawyer Council of Thailand set up a working group to provide legal aid to Win or Win Saw Thun and Zaw Lin, the two Burmese suspects in the murder of David Miller, 24 and the rape and murder of Hannah Witheridge, 23 in Koh Tao, Surat Thani province on 15 September 2014. Mr Surapong Kong-janteuk has been appointed as the head of the the mission to provide legal aid and other assistance regarding human rights violation in criminal legal procedure along with several other senior attorneys.

A group of burmese gathered in front of the Prime Minister Office on Friday afternoon (local time) and called for the UK government to carry out an Independently investigate the horrific murders of Hannah Witheridge and David Miller, found dead on Thailand’s touristic island of Koh Tao.

Alleged torture and threats against two migrant workers suspected of murder on touristic Ko Tao Island suggest poor legal standards and lack of protection for suspects in Thailand.
Two Myanmar migrant workers based on Ko Tao, southern Surat Thani Province, have accused the Thai police of torturing them by pouring hot water on them, beating them, and threatening to electrocute them in order to have them confess to murdering two British backpacker tourists, Hannah Witheridge, 23, and David Miller, 24, on 15 September.

A Thai man said he was beaten up by police after he turned down a police offer of reward money if he agreed to be a witness in the murder case of two British tourists in Thailand’s tourist island of Koh Tao, southern Surat Thani Province, according to ASTV-Manager online.
The report says Pornprasit Sukdam, 37, on Tuesday complained to Kobchai Saowalak, kamnan (subdistrict head) of Koh Tao Subdistrict, and asked for protection.
