Pro-junta student group rebukes anti-junta activists

A Facebook page of pro-junta students has urged the 14 anti-junta student activists to cease all political movements, claiming that they are selfish and destroying the nation.

On Tuesday, 30 June 2015, a Facebook page called ‘Klum Achiwa Chuaichat’ (Vocational Student Group for the Nation) claiming to represent pro-junta vocational students and former students of vocational schools, issued a statement to denounce the embattled 14 anti-junta student activists.

According to the statement, the group claimed that there are individuals with a hidden agenda who are backing the 14 pro-democracy activists, now in detention,.

The group urged the pro-democracy student activists to stop all their activities and said that they would come out to counter the movements of pro-democracy activists to show support for the junta.

“As we are also students, we would like to ask the [anti-junta] student group to cease their activities. If students who only think of their interests still come out to destroy the [junta’s] credibility and national security, a group comprising vocational students and former vocational students will come out to support the work of the junta’s National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) as well,” the group wrote in their statement.

The Klum Achiwa Chuaichat Facebook Page was started in late 2013. It was founded by vocational students who joined the anti-election People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) protest.
