Women are like candies that should be wrapped: Thai junta leader

Conveying his good wishes to the Thai people for the upcoming Songkran Holiday, the Thai junta leader has warned Thai women that they should be wrapped nicely like candies.

Matichon Online reported on Tuesday, 12 April 2016, that Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha, the junta leader and Prime Minister, greeted Songkran well-wishers before the cabinet meeting at Government House.

The junta leader said that people should not be divisive and should be happy at the Thai New Year Festival, adding that the nation has not been ‘truly happy’ for the last 10 years.

He told the media that he was working for the people, and urged them to help him in this.

Gen Prayut then warned people not to wear revealing clothes during the festival and suggested that they should wear Thai costumes.

The junta leader further said that women are like candies or sweets which should be nicely wrapped because people will not like to buy unwrapped candies or sweets.

He then joked that although some have wrapped themselves nicely for years, they will not be bought, and then thanked his visitors and the media.

Yesterday, Krisana Pattanajaroen, Deputy Spokesperson of the Royal Thai Police, said that women wearing revealing clothes will be banned from all walking streets during the Songkran Festival.

He said that Gen Prayut urged the police to strictly enforce this law.
