การสัมมนานี้เป็นการสัมมนาอินเทอร์เน็ตเอเชีย (Asia Internet Symposium) ที่จัดขึ้นในประเทศไทยเป็นครั้งแรก โดยอินเทอร์เน็ตโซไซตี้เอเชียแปซิฟิก เพื่อสำรวจประเด็นกังวลสำหรับประเทศที่กำลังเตรียมตัวเข้าสู่การเจรจาเพื่อเป็นสมาชิกในความตกลงหุ้นส่วนยุทธศาสตร์ทางเศรษฐกิจภาคฟื้นแปซิฟิก หรือ “TPP” (ประเทศไทยเป็นประเทศหนึ่งที่กำลังจะเจรจาเข้าเป็นสมาชิก โดยกรมเจรจาการค้าระหว่างประเทศได้จัดเวทีรับฟังความคิดเห็นทั่วประเทศเสร็จสิ้นแล้วตั้งแต่เดือนกันยายนที่ผ่านมา)

เนื้อหาสัมมนาจะครอบคลุม ความเข้าใจถึงกลไกของ TPP และบทบาทของข้อตกลงการค้าเสรีในการส่งเสริมนวัตกรรมและความคิดสร้างสรรค์ในยุคดิจิทัล ผ่านการศึกษาผลที่จะเกิดขึ้นในภาคต่างๆ เช่น ผู้ให้บริการอินเทอร์เน็ต การศึกษา การพัฒนาซอฟต์แวร์ กฎหมาย ธุรกิจ และโทรคมนาคม ทั้งนี้จะมีการนำเสนอกรณีศึกษาจากประเทศนิวซีแลนด์ เปรียบเทียบก่อนและหลังการเป็นสมาชิก และสำรวจสิ่งที่กำลังเกิดขึ้นในการค้าระหว่างประเทศ ทั้งเรื่องทรัพย์สินทางปัญญาและการค้าอิเล็กทรอนิกส์ ปิดท้ายด้วยข้อเสนอแนะสำหรับอุตสาหกรรมฐานความรู้ในประเทศไทยจากผู้เชี่ยวชาญของอินเทอร์เน็ตโซไซตี้

## Synopsis ##

As the first Thailand AIS, Internet Society has chosen a topic on Knowledge Economy and free trade agreement i.e. specifically exploring the implications of emerging issues surrounding the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement. This is also a timely discussion for the country in its lead up to its negotiation and possible entry into TPP Agreement in the near future.

The half day event will focus on understanding the instruments and mechanics of TPP and the role of free trade agreements in enhancing innovation and creativity in the Digital Age i.e. creating a Knowledge Economy. In addition, there will also be a study on the cross cutting implications of TPP across various sectors (ISP, education, programmers, legal, business, telecom industry, etc.)

Areas covered includes:
* Case study of New Zealand experiences pre/post TPP membership
* Emerging issues in international trade treaty for free market agreement, Intellectually Property, Electronic Commerce, etc. (TRIP, WTO, bi-lateral, SOPA, PIPA, ACTA.)
* The building blocks of the Knowledge or Digital Economy.
* Internet Society Perspectives on the evolution of the Internet and recommendations.

Outcome: Public discussion and collective formation of viewpoints from various interest groups to develop a position paper to be submitted to policy makers.

The event targets various groups: policy makers, IP professionals, ICT, ISPs, law enforcement, regulator, business and legal communities, healthcare and education sectors.

The symposium is open to Internet Society members and the general public. Entry is free and lunch is also provided for all attendees.
